Just Thinking…

Published by under Just for Fun (Mystic Humor)

I was thinking… “How large must a concern be before it can be properly brought before God without flippancy?” I then realized to answer such a question is foolish, as it brings human conditional measurements to matters of divine judgment….   so I asked God for a sandwich.

Saving Cows and Curing My Cynicism

Published by under Misc.

Chick-fil-A

While I realize that joining the Catholic Church means I pretty much have to turn in my “spiritual maverick” club card, I still carry a heavy bit of cynicism against much of Christian culture.  I role my eyes at the “American-Idol-Wannabe” CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) music industry, groan when I see a little fish on the back of someone’s car as they cut me off in traffic, and have a strong urge to light the “Inspirational” book section at Wal-Mart on fire.  Because of this, Chick-fil-A, the overtly Christian fast food chain, found itself in my sceptic pile very quickly.  However, I am here to say that Chick-fil-A has both won me over, and given me a renewed positive attitude toward old-fashioned religious sensibilities. Squish

Oh little gnat on my glasses
How your guts are like molasses

I was out biking fast and free
Suddenly, a black dot I see

I blew at you to go away
Then shook my lens, and yet you stay

You had your chance, yet you linger
So I flicked you with my finger

Now I find to my great distress
You left behind a sticky mess

Oh little gnat on my glasses
How your guts are like molasses

Introducing St. Philip Neri – The Comic Strip

Published by under Comic Strip

St Philip Neri Comic Strip

CLICK IMAGE FOR FULL SIZED COMIC STRIP

St Philip NeriI have always wanted to do a comic strip, but have always lacked the inspiration for an original strip. Lately, I become enamored with the character of St. Philip Neri. He was a skilled orator and known for his humor. Most importantly, he was an avid proponent of genuine and pure religion. He mocked people who obsessed over looks and appearance, to point of wearing silly clothes in public or shaving half his beard off (which is how he appears in the strip).

I plan on doing at least one strip a month, and at the very least, publishing them here on my blog. I don’t have any plans right now for syndication or other means of publishing, I am just going to see what happens. Please feel free post the strips on your own personal sites, or email them to others. I just ask that you leave the image in tact with the copyright, website, and authorship in place. If you are and organization or commercial organization, I ask that you contact me for permission before re-publishing any of the strips.

Hope you enjoy it! Thanks!

Precious Childhood Memories

Swimming, Swimming in the sea
Daddy, Daddy, look at me

Look! I dove into the lake
Well, very small steps I take

The fish don’t scare me, not at all
My knees are shaking so I might fall

I love to float upon the water
Everyone is my size smaller

Daddy, now I found something fun
So don’t just lie there in the sun

Come out with me into the sea
Find a nice warm spot and pee
